Fresh from the Farm and Local Offerings

We wish all members of the Boston Organics Community a delicious and meaningful Memorial Day. With the holiday comes the official start of summer, which to us means the arrival of two awesome things: green leafies and grilling. This week marks the kick-off for local season with our first greens from Atlas Farms! Read on for suggestions for enjoying early summer's bounty, plus our favorite grill-ready recipes.

Happy local season!Boston Organics - Atlas Farms Lettuce

Atlas Farm is one of our primary growing partners, delivering organic greens, heirloom tomatoes, squash and loads more throughout the New England local season. Atlas covers 85 acres in the fertile Connecticut River Valley, and the farmers use sustainable growing practices that will maintain the fertility of the soil for years to come. This week, Atlas will deliver arugula, baby bok choy, chard and green leaf lettuce.

To welcome this new season and nourish your body with powerful greens, we recommend this recipe for Steamed Eggs in a Bed of Greens. Highlight the spicy flavor of arugula with a batch of Arugula Gnocchi with Brown Butter Sauce. If you're feeling a little overwhelmed by the abundance of green stuff, we've got you covered. Check out our Complete Guide to Leafy Greens to learn about all the wonderful variety (and to get a sneak preview of what else you can expect from summer).

Boston Organics - Grilled Vegetable Kabobs

‘Tis the season for outdoor cooking, and the burgers and dogs will be flowing. If you’re looking for a meatless alternative to typical grill fare, try this recipe for the Ultimate Veggie Burger. Unlike most veggie burgers, this burger forms firm patties so you can grill them up with the rest of your cookout grub.

Accompany your burger with grilled organic vegetables. One of our favorites is this simple, delicious recipe for Grilled Vegetable Kabobs. For this week and periodically throughout the summer, we will offer Mousam Valley's oyster mushrooms as add-ons! These flavorful fungi are a delicious addition to many dishes, especially your grilled kabobs. Order yours now.

Far-out CookoutBoston Organics - Grilled Bok Choy

Eggplant, onions, squash and peppers are all classic faves, but the sky is the limit when it comes to grilling. If you want to experiment, bring some of those greens to your grill. We love the sweet and savory flavor of this Grilled Bok Choy with Sweet Soy Glaze. And you’ll never look at lettuce the same way after you’ve tasted Simple Grilled Romaine Salad. We'd love to hear about your grilling innovations, too!
