What’s in the Dogma Box – November 5, 2014

Our Local Dogma Box includes organic fruits and vegetables sourced as close to Boston as possible throughout the year. Similar to a CSA or farm share, this box is filled with the best organic produce from local and regional farms and brought right to your door each week.

In spite of the wintry mix our farmers faced last weekend, our Dogma Box remains a colorful mix of fall favorites. Crisp lettuce and bok choy complement the crunchy carrots and New England apples.

Atlas Farm's collection of root veggies are full of flavor and nutrients to keep you healthy as flu season hits. And if you're already feeling under the weather, there's no better cure than some gently brewed mint tea with fresh organic mint from Happy Valley Organics.

This week’s Dogma Box contains:

  • Beets – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Carrots – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Collards – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Celeriac – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Lettuce – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Sweet Potatoes – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Turnips – Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield, MA)
  • Mint – Happy Valley Organics (Whately, MA)
  • Onions – Porter Farms (Elba, NY)
  • McIntosh Apples – Dwight Miller Orchards (E. Dummerston, VT)

Our recipe for homemade mint jelly makes use of the natural pectin in Dwight Miller Orchard's McIntosh apples so you can make this flavorful classic with the local and organic ingredients in you Dogma Box.

Mint jelly is often associated with roasted lamb or chicken, but you can also mix it with yogurt and roasted eggplant, spread it on crackers with cream cheese, or mix it into a cocktail or iced tea!
