Happy Independence Day! We here are Boston Organics are celebrating with so much local produce from our regional farm partners. However you choose to spend the 4th of July, we hope you have a fun, safe and most importantly, delicious holiday.

Berry patrioticBoston Organics - Strawberry and Blueberry Pie

What’s the 4th of July without some red, white and blue? Keep the patriotic spirit alive all week with a delicately sweet Blueberry and Strawberry Pie. (Don’t forget the ice cream!) This week, add-on blueberries come to us from Dwight Miller and Son Orchard of Dummerston, Vermont. Make sure you have plenty of tangy local berries for all your summer baking projects, or to pile liberally on your yogurt and granola: order a pint today.

In a pickle
Boston Organics - Small Batch Pickles

Summer is a time for celebrating and basking in the wealth of sun and local produce, but is also a time for capturing some of that goodness for colder months. Pickling cucumbers from Atlas Farms will be found in this week’s boxes, and are perfect for making Small Batch Refrigerator Pickles so you can keep a piece of summer just a bit longer. Though in all honesty, these are so delicious and make a perfect accompaniment to a tasty grilled burger, they might not last that long.

cool kohlrabiBoston Organics - Purple Kohlrabi

The Kitchen Garden in Sunderland will deliver beautiful purple kohlrabi this week. Though you may think this veggie is definitely on the weird-looking side, it is super versatile and tasty, with a mild, sweet flavor reminiscent of broccoli. We've put together a few tasty ways to prepare this veggie, or if you are looking for a recipe to try this week, we suggest Greek Style Kohlrabi Pie with Feta and Dill.
