It's late summer which means the days are getting a little bit shorter and the nights are getting a little bit cooler. What this also means is that a plethora of pepper varieties are reaching their full maturity, turning into their ultimate color destiny and finding themselves in many Boston Organics' produce boxes! To celebrate peak pepper season we created The Boston Organics Pepper Guide. Check it out!
We know, we know - it's not quite the end of summer yet. But with Labor Day just around the corner, we know many Boston Organics customers are starting to prepare for the impending school year and we are here to make sure everyone is ready to rise and shine for back-to-school! Your produce boxes will be full of fruits and veggies to form the base for healthy meals, and our wide selection of add-ons will help make sure you have everything you need without the hassle of the grocery store.
Last week we shared a bit about what a local and sustainable food system means to us and farmers and farm workers are the bedrock of that supply chain. We want to take some time to celebrate and appreciate many of the growers and farm teams that allow us to do the work that we do and to enjoy some of the most delicious organic produce in the region.
We may have put away our white pants for the season, and school may be back in session, but here at Boston Organics, we aren’t quite done with summer. Our farm partners continue to deliver an abundance of warm weather produce, from tomatoes to peppers to corn. And we say bring it! We are always game for more: more summer, more heat (though we’re not talking just about the weather) and more seasonal add-ons, all headed your way in this week’s boxes.
Throughout the year, members of the Boston Organics Community are able to enjoy locally grown produce thanks to the effort and expertise of our dedicated farm partners. The relationships our purchasing team has built over the years help bring our customers closer to the source of their food, and help to strengthen our regional food system. Last week, some of our staff had the opportunity to pay a visit to some of these hard-working farmers in western Massachusetts to learn about their operations and even taste some of the delicious produce members of the Boston Organics Community can expect to see in their boxes this week.
There may be a swirl of mixed emotions circling this week as kids prepare to go back to school. Whether the mood in your family is one of melancholy or excitement, Boston Organics is here to make sure everyone is ready to rise and shine (with a minimum of solar glaring at the bus coming down the road). Your produce box will be full of fruits and veggies to form the base for healthy meals, and our wide selection of add-ons will help make sure you have everything you need without the hassle of the grocery store.
Though it may not officially start until Memorial Day, we're getting in the mood for summer. This certainly shows in boxes this week, which include seasonal treasures from local spinach to cantaloupe to nectarines. Get a fresh start to the season and the holiday with delicious produce and flavorful recipes.
A weekly update from Boston Organics.
Though January may be a month of cold, quiet and subdued colors, the produce Boston Organics is delivering this week didn't get the message. This week's boxes include tasty treasures like crisp butter lettuce and intensely red blood oranges. We are grateful for all the nutrients packed into these brightly-colored foods, helping keep us healthy and well even when it's gray outside.
A weekly update from Boston Organics.
Though your sweet tooth may have been satisfied by spooky treats this weekend, we hope you saved some room for some tasty organic produce! This week, Boston Organics will deliver winter squash and Spencer apples—which have a special sweetness all their own—as well as other delicious vegetables to add richness and flavor to the lengthening nights.
