When you joined the Boston Organics Community, you took a big step towards improving the way you eat. If you weren’t used to cooking on a regular basis, it may have required a little extra work. At the same time, you’re probably also running to the supermarket a lot less frequently.
The biggest change, however, is one you may not even realize. By filling your home with fresh, organic food, you and your family are eating healthier and making better food decisions every day.
When you surround yourself with healthy food, you’re going to eat healthy food. It may seem obvious, but these kinds of simple insights are often lacking in today’s modern diet fads.
Slim By Design is different.
Developed by Dr. Brian Wansink of the Cornell Food & Brand Lab, Slim By Design is built on the basic principle that the most successful diet is the diet you don’t know you’re on.
People don’t overeat because they’re hungry. They overeat because of the size of the serving bowl, the size of their plate, what the person next to them is doing, the music that’s playing, the lighting in the room. And the good thing is that all of these are things that you can change to work for you rather than against you.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, be healthier or have more energy, eating better doesn’t have to be hard.
For a limited time, Slim By Design is offering the Boston Organics Community a discount on their 4-week course, which includes daily video lessons from Dr. Brian Wansink and direct access to a personal coach who will help you develop and follow through with your goals.
A few members of the Boston Organics Crew had the opportunity to take the course earlier this spring. They have improved their snacking and eating habits by making just a few simple, but effective, design changes to their environment. Here’s a short video that explains the philosophy behind Slim By Design.
About the Course
Dr. Brian Wansink is a behavioral scientist at Cornell University who has spent the last 25 years studying eating behavior. His two books, Mindless Eating and Slim By Design, discuss the astounding effect that an individual’s environment has on her eating habits. Dr. Wansink has used the data from his years of research to develop actionable advice for people who want to start eating better.
One study from Cornell Food & Brand Lab showed that 75% of dieters give up within the first month. Even worse, it’s estimated that 95% of people who lose weight on a diet end up gaining it back! That’s because most diets are based on making big, sweeping changes that are unsustainable over the long-run.
By contrast, Slim By Design doesn’t make you cut anything out of your diet. In fact you’re allowed to eat as much junk food as you want—you just have to make it slightly more inconvenient to do so.
Slim By Design’s course is broken into four sections, focusing on the four locations where food decisions are typically made: your home, the grocery store, your workplace and restaurants.
After you download the app, you’ll receive a short 2-5 minute video each day with tips to help you redesign your eating environment and allow you to make more conscious eating decisions.
You’ll also have access to a live coach who will guide you in setting up personal goals and help you hold yourself accountable. Derek, the coach that helped the Boston Organics Crew during their course, was friendly, knowledgeable and supportive, all without being pushy.
How to Get Started
Anyone can download the app and start the 3-day trial for free, but only Boston Organics customers can get 25% off access to the full 4-week course.
