Fresh from the Farm and Local Offerings

It's a season of change here at Boston Organics. Between the recent launch of a brand-new website and the ever-growing list of local produce appearing in boxes again, we are embracing this time of positive transition.

A FRESH HARVESTEat Local with Boston Organics

Local produce is becoming abundant as early summer and hothouse crops are being harvested. For the first time this year we're offering locally grown strawberries brought to us by Dwight Miller & Son Orchard of East Dummerston, Vermont. In addition to appearing in all-fruit boxes, you can order half-pints of these sweet red berries as an add-on.

If you're heading to a weekend gathering with your nearest and dearest, you might be planning to delight the masses with a fresh, seasonally appropriate side. May we make a suggestion? Red Fire Farm of Granby, Massachusetts is harvesting green cabbage this week, which would serve as a beautiful base to this Crunchy Asian-Style Slaw recipe. It's a family favorite of one of our staffers, Rebecca, and now that we've tried it out, it'll be making pop-up appearances at crew members' picnics throughout the summer.

Many members of the Boston Organics Community will be seeing sprouts peep from beneath their box lids. Jonathan's Sprouts is providing alfalfa sprouts this week. What's the difference between these and the other sprout varieties that we feature through the year? Read all about it in our Simple Guide to Organic Sprouts. As for alfalfa sprouts specifically, we like to use them the same way you might use lettuce. They add a satisfying crispness to salads, sandwiches and wraps. A perfect summer food.

TOAST TO SUMMER
Catalan Toast by Boston Organics

Have you ever tried a recipe so simple and so fantastic that you wonder how you hadn't invented it yourself? That's how we felt when we tried this. We took Long Wind Farm's organic hot house tomatoes and made some of this Catalan-Style Tomato Bread, which uses just a few ingredients—ripe tomatoes, fresh garlic, olive oil, crusty bread, and salt and pepper. You can whip up a rustic, flavorful lunch or snack that will no doubt become a personal go-to.

THANKS FOR YOUR WEBSITE FEEDBACKNew-Website-on-Laptop.jpg

With the launch of the new website, we've experienced a great deal of feedback, most of it positive. We are so appreciative of your kind words and patience as we continue tweaking and improving during this transition.

We are getting some questions on the basic functionality of the new site, so we encourage folks to check out our blog post on the topic if you haven't had the chance. It should answer many of these questions and get you on your way to no-hassle produce delivery bliss.
