The Boston Local Food Festival is here! Boston Organics and more than 75 of your favorite local farmers, chefs, restaurants, artisans, and service organizations will be filling up The Rose Kennedy Greenway on Sunday September 16th from 11am to 5pm. This free food fest is not to be missed!
In it's ninth year, the Boston Local Food Festival brings together a plethora of vendors from farms to non-profits in the spirit of local, green and fair. This year's theme is "healthy local food for all" and a celebration of the local food system and local economy here in New England. The festival is also a zero-waste event! That means the event offsets 100% of the energy use and diverts over 90% of its waste. So make sure to grab your reusable water bottle and shopping bags before you head out for the festival!
The event kicks off at 12 noon with the festival's opening program. The lineup of speakers includes:
12:00 PM: Welcome from Nicola Williams, The Williams Agency and Chair, SBN Local Food Committee
12:05 PM: Commissioner John Lebeaux, Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR)
12:17 PM: Niaz Dorry, Food Solutions New England, Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance (NAMA), and National Family Farm Coalition (NFFC)
12:27 PM: R Jesse Brackenbury, Executive Director, The Rose Kennedy Greenway
12:30 PM: Lexie Raczka, Program Manager, SBN Local Food Program
From there, grab your friends and family and explore the many booths, kid-friendly activity zone, chef demonstrations, and the crowd-favorite Seafood Throwdown competition. This festival offers something for everyone so mark your calendars and come visit us this weekend!
