Weekly Newsletter - March 25, 2013

Posted by Amy Levine on Mar 25, 2013 4:56:10 AM

It's that time of year when we meet with our growers to review the past year's harvest and start planning for the upcoming season. Unfortunately we don't get to leave the office for farm visits as often as we'd like, but it's always a pleasure to meet with our friendly growers whenever we get the chance. Last Friday we had a nice visit with Michael Docter of Winter Moon Farm, and we look forward to his beautiful harvest in the coming winter and for many more to come.

Many of the boxes will be seeing some bright colors this week with broccoli, chard, sweet potatoes, and a mix of gold or red beets. We're also bringing in some early spring flavor with Roma tomatoes and yellow squash. Citrus season is still brightening up the boxes with Minneola tangelos, Murcott mandarins, and luscious blood oranges. Check out the newsletter!

Lentil Soup Kits Are Here!

Posted by Amy Levine on Jan 25, 2013 11:10:04 AM

You know it's January in Boston when the Charles River looks more like an ice cube tray than a waterway. In this climate it can be difficult to keep warm and stay healthy. At Boston Organics we are arming you with fresh vegetables and a foolproof meal plan: winter soups!

To help make nutritious soups your easy go-to meals, we have developed an Organic Lentil Soup Kit! This kit contains everything you need to make a big ol' pot of soup that you can eat throughout the week.

The Lentil Soup Kit contains:

  • 1 package of green lentils (Fiddler’s Green Farm Organic)
  • .5 lb onion
  • 1 lb sweet potatoes
  • 1 head of garlic
  • 1.5oz baby spinach (Olivia’s Organics)
  • 1 recipe card

We highly encourage loading the soup up with extra vegetables from your box. The recipe card includes a list of optional veggies that would work well with this recipe, but feel free to get creative. Our recipe card also includes some fun spice recommendations to kick the flavor up a notch.

Order the soup kit here. Happy eating and stay warm!
