Last week’s “polar vortex” threw some of our growers for a loop, and freezing temperatures across the country are drastically affecting the nation’s citrus supply. This year’s citrus season may not be as “fruitful” as years past, but we’re feeling fortunate to have lots of navel oranges, tangelos, and mandarins going out in our boxes this week.

We also have tomatoes going out in this week's boxes! The tomatoes in this week’s Dogma Box come from hot houses at L’Abri Vegetal Farm, a member of Vermont-based Deep Root Organic Coop. Also, we have plenty of root vegetables from Winter Moon Farm.

As 2013 winds down, we want to wish you a healthy, happy, and fulfilling New Year. We have so many people to thank for making this a fantastic year, and we feel incredibly grateful and honored to be a part of this community. Your support not only impacts us as a small local business; your purchases support hardworking farmers, local food artisans, and even schools and community organizations who ask us for donations throughout the year.

Saturday was the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of year and the official start to winter. Starting this week, our Winter Produce Guide will be available in your boxes and on our website so you can learn what to expect for the new season. Our brand new Gift Boxes make great gifts for the foodies in your life. We have two sizes available, each stuffed full of organic goodies and treats from local companies including Equal Exchange, Dean's Beans, Taza Chocolate, and more.

Christmas and New Years are right around the corner! We put together 2 lovely assortments of our organic treats and snacks for 2 different holiday Gift Boxes. You can order them this week and give them to your friends, family, clients, coworkers, and loved ones. Winter doesn’t officially begin until next week, but the snow and the organic root vegetables from Winter Moon Farm are sure signs that autumn is winding down.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and as a company that’s passionate about fresh, delicious food, you can imagine that we get pretty excited for this holiday! We will be closed on Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week, so we're compressing all of next week's deliveries into Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It's getting chilly out there, and that means it's the perfect time to get in the kitchen and cook all of this season's heartiest veggies. This week brings local Brussels sprouts, fresh dill, watermelon radishes, rainbow carrots, purple top turnips, apples, and the first of the season's tangerines! Check out the newsletter!
